Brand new biomass dryer installed for 21/22 Winter
For the winter of 2021/22 we have installed a state of the art biomass kiln. In the past when we just sold seasoned logs we would never run out of logs, but we would run out of properly seasoned logs by around February, despite having 200 to 300 tonnes in the drying crates. We will still rotate logs through the drying crates to get to 20 - 25% moisture, but now we can finish them off with a gale force blast of 75 degrees centigrade for a few days to drop the moisture content down to the ideal 12% to 15%. This is not really possible in any kind of scale and consistency by seasoning / air drying. The kiln runs entirely on sawdust, off cuts and bits and pieces that fall off the processors. It is so efficient it is rated to use in a smokeless zone.
The kiln itself is computer controlled via drying programmes developed by Kiln Services over years of experience all over the world, it can take 12 cubic metres at a time. We not only use the kiln to produce firewood and kindling, but also to prepare feedstock for the charcoal kiln, briquetter and kindling machine.
